Revise my Sums Insured

It is important that your sums insured are revised regularly to ensure that you are sufficiently insured as this may have an impact in case of a claim.

Value of Buildings

The sum insured on Buildings should reflect

  • the cost of rebuilding your property
  • plus the cost of replacing your fixtures and fittings (i.e. anything that you would
leave behind if you were to move house)
  • This value is

  • NOT the market price of your property and
  • should NOT include the value of the land on which your property is situated.
  • Value of Contents

The sum insured on Contents should reflect the new replacement value of

  • all your household goods plus personal effects (other than clothes and household
linen for which an element of wear and tear should be deducted)
  • all your valuables which are defined as jewellery and other articles of gold, silver
or other precious metals; watches; furs; pictures; paintings and other works of
art; collections of stamps, coins and medals.
