What else to do after an accident:

Try to stay calm and focused

Advise us of the accident on the same day it occurs on 2343 5363 or email [email protected]

If it occurs on a weekend, advise us first thing on Monday morning. You can call us personally at one of our branches quoting your policy number where possible.

General Claims

If items are lost or stolen, notify the district police to enable them to issue the relative report. In the event of a break-in, do not touch anything until police and/or forensic experts allow you to do so. After the relevant surveys have been carried out, you should set about securing your premises (even if on a temporary basis).

  • If cleaning has to be carried out following fire and or water damage, this should be done immediately to minimise the loss. Nevertheless the items damaged must not be disposed of until we instruct you to do so.
  • When you suffer damages due to the negligence of third parties please ensure that you provide us with details of such person(s).
  • Take photographs as necessary to prove your loss/damage
  • It is important that you follow our instructions and also to act as if you are uninsured and try to minimise the loss as much as possible.
Marine Cargo Claims

Please follow these instructions and act as though you are uninsured: imagine you were bearing the costs of the loss yourself, so that you try to minimise the loss as much as possible.

  • If pilferage or damages are discovered, please inform us immediately and if our offices are closed, please notify us on our next working day.
  • In case of damage to your goods, segregate the damaged items from the undamaged items immediately to minimise the loss. Please retain damaged items in order not to prejudice our position just in case we need to view or test the items. Please retain the damaged goods pending our instructions.
  • Make sure that either the haulier or Customs officer makes a note of the damages or shortages on the Delivery Order, Gate Pass Out or Customs Release Order.
  • It is important that you immediately write to the Freight Forwarder or whoever dealt with your goods, holding him responsible for your loss.
