Celebrating success on Atlas Day

“The aim of every Atlas Day is to celebrate our achievements and our people’s hard work,” said Atlas Group CEO Michael Gatt, during the third edition of Atlas Day, a day of development and relaxation for the Atlas Group. “We believe it is important to take a moment to acknowledge our success across the group, that is, Atlas Insurance, Atlas Healthcare, Ark Insurance Management and Jesmond Mizzi Financial Advisors, as well as our protected cell facility.”

In 10 years, Atlas Group has grown from three premises to twelve which includes branches all over Malta. We are now available for our clients in Birkirkara, Bormla, Mosta, Paola, Qormi, Rabat, San Gwann, St. Paul’s Bay, SkyParks and Ta’ Xbiex.

“Our staff complement has grown from 115 to 184 employees since 2006,” said Mr Gatt. “We believe in young people, the energy, enthusiasm and drive they bring to a company. In fact over a third of our staff members are in their early 30s. We are also proud to be an equal opportunities employer, with over 50 percent of our employees being female.”

“We have launched new products such as pet insurance and more recently, a product for bicycles, the first of its kind in Malta. We saw the need to expand our services to offer an innovative cover so that our clients can concentrate on enjoying their hobby,” said Mr. Gatt.

Atlas was the first direct insurer to convert to a Protected Cell Company in the EU, creating our international arm – that is our cell facility. Over the past decade, Atlas has been recognised as a leading EU PCC experts, having assessed and implemented a variety of direct, third-party, reinsurance and captive cells.

Sister company Jesmond Mizzi Financial Advisors can also count the launch of a new fund amongst its achievements in 2016, with the launch of the Merill Total Return Income Fund. The fund was launched with seed capital provided by Atlas Insurance of €14m and to-date has exceeded €20m. The company continues to increase its client base and assets under management.
In 2015, Atlas Healthcare celebrated its 15th anniversary as agents for AXA PPP healthcare, one of the largest medical insurers in the UK. The company has also been a pioneer in many areas including dental insurance, still the only standalone product of its kind in Malta, as well as the launch of a group secretaries’ portal for corporate group administration. Atlas Healthcare also provides several 24/7 services including emergency hospital admission service, emergency GP assistance service and Health at Hand, a FREE telephone health information service provided on a 24-hour basis.

Besides the obvious landmarks of new branches and products, Atlas has also extended its effort to improve its communication with clients in innovative ways. “Here I refer to our online chat facility through our website, which was launched in 2012 and proven popular amongst clients,” explained Mr Gatt. “We have also developed a more customer centric website which targets clients’ immediate needs, to make their insurance experience a smoother and more convenient one,” added Mr Gatt. “Last but not least, initial contact for international clients has now been made easier with a revamped Atlas PCC website.”

“All of this is only possible because of the very enthusiastic and engaged group of people who make up our team. They give the service which makes our clients keep coming back and recommending us,” concluded Mr Gatt.
